Dental technicians today are still compelled to make prostheses with empirical tools and depend on numerous direct checks on the patient in the studio to achieve a perfect fit, causing longer times and continual adjustments.
Dental surgeons still do not have a single tool for a real diagnosis. They use approximate tools that multiply the patient’s visits to the studio delivering, at the end, a prosthesis system which is not made on the basis of the patient’s effective mandibular movements. Furthermore, data acquisition times are long, so many sessions are needed for checks and necessary adjustments.
The patient with severe joint problems, in particular, often has undergo through long treatments, sometimes invasive which, in most cases, do not end with the delivery of a perfectly balanced prosthesis, in a workmanlike manner, as it should be.
In the market, as already explained, there are already mechanical mandibular articulators. However, these are not automated, performing arbitrary and based on standardized movements. Our project, in addition to automating the procedure, was created to replicate the individual movement of the individual patient.
The ITAKA WAY MED system is unique because it enables acquisition of complete and precise data based on all 6 degrees of freedom in space and, therefore, capable of processing and reproducing even the “free translation movements” whether they are analog. or digital (absolutely new). Acquisition is obtained swiftly, in a short time and with total comfort for the patient.
The system is characterized by a unique and complete protocol, tested for more than three years and with numerous complex cases, which includes the data acquisition of the mandibular movements and the verification in the CAD computer systems used for the digital design of the prostheses.
